Likewise, my friend! It was fun and this idea -that I wouldn't have had on my own- is really helping me find balance in climate work. I hope it does the same for others as well.
I love how the venn diagram morphed into a string of purpose-filled carts! And I love how the three of you recognised the guilt and shame which often lurks behind the overwhelming sense of responsibility that arises when we contemplate being a good human on this beautiful planet 💛
Ooo, yes, Betje. It's taken me 70+ years to learn that I have to clear and forgive all that in order to, a) heal, and, b) love who I am in truth.
The intriguing thing is the way that 'new' guilts and shames arise when we're done with processing others. Lately, I find myself feeling ashamed of being white in a country still dealing with the wrongs perpetrated by the colonialists who are my ancestors... sigh...
I'm slowly working to arise above that now in a loving way.
Thanks for highlighting the guilt/shame part, I’ve sat with this for a few hours and I think there is something important there, they are both really low energy emotions and not very useful for action, but I suspect very common and not much talked about. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hm, while I said that guilt and shame can propel you in the right direction, I do also feel the low energy part. It feels like a burden and I know that when I want to get rid of that, I need to take action. But you do have to get rid of it once it has done it's job. A sense of guilt does serve a purpose, I suppose?
I had so much fun working on this with you! Thank you xoxo

Ah yes, guilt and shame may be able to propel you in the right direction, but it will wear you down over time, is my experience.
