So cool! Loved reading your adventure. Can’t live without bugs we’re all interconnected. Intense museum experience > migraine ugh 😩 coffee is definitely a good option if you catch it quick enough. Looking forward to hearing about your next outing!
Oh this is so cool! I recently started adding drawings to my writing, and although my drawings don't feel to me like one-panel-gag-comics, they still feel like comics to me. BUT I'm so new to this area (I've never really consumed many comics), that I though maybe they weren't really comics, but more graphic-noveley?
I'm new to your stack and seeing that what you're doing is kinda similar to what I'm doing makes me feel like maybe they ARE comics after all!
I LOVED the 'why do we need to have' comic. Why, indeed.
Thanks for the interesting post and the inspiration!
My first thought is, why do you want to put a label on your work? Comic, illustration or drawing, it's all art! That said, your work is definitely comics :D
Excellent question! On a personal level, I just think of it as drawing. BUT, because I'm new at it, I'm looking to explore and play and learn from people. I joined the substack of someone who calls themselves a cartoonist and submitted some of my work for feedback. But she replied that couldn't help me because she's not an expert on graphic novel style of work, only cartoons.
Also, my substack doesn't really fit into any of the categories that Substack offers, and I wasn't sure if I should put it under the 'comic' category.
So I guess cartoons and comics are different then? Haha.
I would say a cartoon is one panel (like New Yorker cartoons), while a comic has more than one (like Calvin and Hobbes). What I do often falls a bit in between, because I write on Substack and add illustrations or cartoons. You write in your panels, which makes them look more like comics. :)

Ha. You're awesome. Thanks for taking the time to look at my work and respond to me to clarify it. I super appreciate it.
Ha! Good point. I did both. :)
