Zero effort climate action
Some of the things that fire me up are: preloved clothing, climate action and being a great help with zero effort. Imagine my excitement when I saw that someone needed used bras en t-shirts for first aid instructions. It’s important to practice all the steps of applying AED pads, including cutting away any clothing, which is particularly tricky to do with an underwire bra.
I send out a message to a local group of women and put a plastic storage box in my front yard for a week. Next thing I knew, I had two big bags of shirts and 29 bras to donate. The first aid instructor was extremely thankful for not having to buy brand new clothing that he’ll only use once.
Climate action doesn’t have to be hard. It’s a matter of paying attention. It so happens that someone in this first aid class (Marieke Eyskoot) is always trying to find ways to live more sustainably. She posted on her socials to ask for second hand clothing for this purpose and I’m sure many women were happy to donate their ill fitting bras to save lives.
With love
