Have you ever responded to someone saying: “SMELL THIS, IT’S NASTY?!” by taking a whiff?
No?
Then definitely don’t read this email. This is for people who take some pleasure in things that are unpleasant.
Slugs. Because of our humid climate (one could say ‘shitty weather’), we have an abundance of these suckers. While I’m brave enough to pick up a snail by its house, there’s no way I’m touching these slimy things with my bare hands.
(Note: my comics are not always entirely true to life.)
I have a plastic spoon and an empty ice cream container that I use to scoop them up and set them out across the street. When I do this, the they will roll up in a ball that’s surprisingly heavy.
One time, I tossed a slug in the container and it bounced right back out. It was mildly unpleasant and very interesting. Who knew they could do that?!
Here’s a story about a tiny zit I thought I’d pop in a second.
The whole ordeal haunted me for days but I’m glad that I got that off my chest. I mean shoulder. You know what I mean.
Unpleasant things are not always disgusting. Here’s an example of something we love to hate in our house.
It’s been a while since I’ve recommended a graphic novel. They’re a little harder to come by here in the Netherlands, you won’t easily find them in the library.
But, I got my hands on Will McPhail’s book ‘In.’
You’ve probably seen his New Yorker cartoons. I love how he finds humor in sad situations. Like this one:
The same goes for his book, he starts off with some hilarious character building, but slowly the story becomes more serious and eventually so sad it made me cry.
It was a good cry. I liked it.
If you know people who can’t take their eyes off a dog that’s doing a poo, please forward this email to them, they might like it!
