My diary drawing practice is a bit like sports. I know it’s good for me, but I don’t always feel like it. The more I do it, the easier it gets. When I think I can’t do it, I have to start anyway and keep going.
No matter how much you practice, a ‘score’ is not guaranteed.
Learning a new skill, it’s messy and embarrassing.
I was hoping for a serene process resulting in a perfectly round pot. Instead I spend two hours wrestling a hump of wet clay on a pottery wheel and nothing to show at the end of a session. Better just to embrace the process and trust that something worthwhile will emerge at some point.
Very rarely, do things go exactly as I was hoping. Best to see the humor when things go sideways. Drawing about it is certainly helping me with that!
That cooking one is so me as well!
That really reminds me of my experience of pottery. But it’s good to give these things a go!
