Resist
Like many of us, I’ve been looking at the news and social media in horror these last two weeks, wondering what I could or should do. What’s happening in Minnesota and the threads by Trump to the rest of the world give me sense of helplessness. When I feel helpless, I reach for my phone, which makes me feel even more distraught.
Then I listened to an Ezra Klein Show episode titled ‘Has Trump achieved a lot less than it seems?’ and it reminded me that what Trump wants, is to be front page news every second of every day. I don’t want to look away and I want to help where I can, but maybe the most important thing I can do right now is to refuse to let Trump be what I read about when I wake up, how I feel when I bring my son to school and to what extend I’m able to do my work.
All of this to say, if you see me post about silly things, it’s not that I don’t care or don’t know about what’s happening. I do and I’m so deeply grateful for everyone who is speaking up and protesting. I hope that wherever you are, you also find a way to ground yourself and find joy, because you need and deserve that now more than ever.
Gillian & Li'l Bean posted about this and shared a video by Marianne Williamson that I found helpful too.
With love,

In the bed, on the bike 😆 seems like a bike would be a stronghold against that sort of company.
Hi Betje, I totally get where you're coming from. I have a slew of funny/goofy comics I need to create, but that damn orange faced nightmare keeps jamming up my creative flow. Of course being here in the US we get inundated with his idiocy far too much. So in order to avoid flying into a foaming at the mouth, screaming out the window rage, I have to play nothing but music in my studio just so I can concentrate on art (while subliminally channeling Italian vendetta curses towards Washington DC.)
As for you, please keep us all pleasantly distracted by those sunny, happy comics flowing out of your pen. :)
