Parenting trial and error
Hi all!
I hope you’re ready for a new package of comics! This time they’re all about what works and doesn’t work in parenting. At least for me, in the last few weeks.
This week we had parent teacher conferences, I always find it fun to hear how our kids are behaving in school…
… I thought I’d return the favor and show the teachers how we’ve been waking up on the weekends. They found it funny because they didn’t think our son was ever paying attention when they were saying these things.
Our other son is in the second to last grade in elementary, so they’re taking tests to see what school he can go to after this. Time for a serious conversation…
Now I have to admit, I do tend to overestimate my own brilliance sometimes.
I expect you want to see the drawing.
The happy dude with the hairy chest is the teacher, next to him is me with a face mask on. Because Coen was facing the teacher he drew a sad smiley to remind us that he was indeed very sad.
At the top I wrote: 'Coen: I actually liked my swimming lesson'. Can you feel my desperation trying to make this idea work? The kid can't even read.
I guess that sometimes, you have to stop overthinking things and put the kid in charge.
I hope you liked to read about my parenting experiences. As always, let me know if you have any comments by hitting the reply button!
With love,
P.S. You may have noticed this email looks a little different, that’s because I’m trying a different platform to send my emails. Apart from the look, nothing else will change for now.
