[Making off] Climate conversation with Marieke Eyskoot
Next week, I’ll be sharing a comic about Marieke Eyskoot with all subscribers and I thought it would be fun to share a bit about the process of making this comic, which was by far the hardest one to make in these series.
My idea behind these comics was that I would let the person in question tell their story in these few steps:
How did they relate to global warming/ecological issues when they grew up.
What caused them to realise things are really bad.
What did they do when they had this realisation.
What worked/what didn’t work.
What wisdom do they have to share.
I talked to Marieke for over an hour and I couldn’t find this ‘awakening’. A good story is supposed to start with a person thinking one way, being thrown into a new world by some sort of incident, learning a bunch of things through trail and error, then coming back at where they came from as a different person.
Let me share the comic, then explain why this didn’t work for Marieke.
