I counted...
… roughly 1400 comic journals. One of the first I ever made was this one in September of 2017:
I completely forgot about this drawing and I certainly wasn’t thinking about it when I made this one, earlier this year:
I like seeing them side by side.
It makes me wonder, maybe a book shouldn’t simply be a collection of ‘best off’ in chronological order. Maybe there’s more to say. It will take me some time to figure that out.
Meanwhile, I did an interview with the wonderful Antonia Gobder. She’s a birth and postnatal doula and was there to encourage me when I first became aware of the severity of our climate crisis.
I don’t know anybody who cares so deeply about other creatures (human and other) as she does. She’s miles ahead of me when it comes to climate activism and talks about that with such humor and wit, I had to interview her first. Luckily, she was willing to share her wisdom, including the mistakes she made.
We talked for almost an hour and a half. To turn that into a comic, that’s another thing that will take some time.
I’m so glad you’re here and I’m thankful for the responses I got on my comic about the end of my comic journals. I want to create meaningful work. I know now that in order to do that, I need space and time to make things that are not worth sharing until I finally end up with something I believe to be worth your time. Sometimes I have a lot to share, sometimes I have little. Knowing that I have this space and your support keeps me going.
Thank you!!
With love,
