I hope you’re enjoying these days between Christmas and New Years. I decided to take this time to do the things that I normally don’t get around to: play boardgames, watch movies, knit, read and paint.
So now that I’m here to show off a self portrait…
(here it is)
… I might as wel share with you what things I’ve discovered and enjoyed.
Let’s start with a movie I think everyone should watch: ‘Don’t Look Up’. It’s about two scientists (played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence) who discover a meteorite heading for our planet. They try to warn fellow humans about their imminent extinction, but somehow nobody seems to take them seriously.
Sounds familiar? Yes, it’s definitely an analogy for our climate crisis. And yet, what surprised me, is that the movie is very entertaining.
If anything climate change related makes you want to curl up in a ball and cry, then I highly recommend reading Katharine Hayhoes book ‘Saving Us’. Again, despite the heavy subject there is so much humor, it’s an enjoyable read and you’ll finish it feeling empowered.
Board games we’ve enjoyed are:
Lost Woods While playing you uncover a map with all sorts of hidden secrets.
CuBirds Frankly, my boys (6 and 12) don’t like it, but it’s fun for late nights with the teen and husband, if only for the cute illustrations.
Picko-Mino (Regenwormen in Dutch) Heavily relying on luck, it’s a great game to play with kids 6 and up.
Oh and there is one more thing we like to do as a family that I didn’t mention above:
I’m wishing you all a 2022 full of love and laughter.
Best,
Love your beauty marks!!!!
What a beautiful portrait of a beautiful woman!
