My friend Adrienne Hedger asked me if I have some comics about ‘the sibling experience’.
So I said: “I don’t think so… I have a bunch about being a mother to multiple children, so that’s sort of what you’re looking for?”
Here’s an oldie but goodie that might fit the bill.
And of course I have a bunch about kids that fight.
Fighting seems to be an important part of what it’s like to be brothers in our household, still I’m not sure if it’s really a portrait of the sibling experience.
In other news, I made a comic about why I endorse Extinction Rebellion.
Comparing Extinction Rebellion to an annoying fly may not sound like a recommendation. I do this because I recognize it can be a nuisance, when you’re trying to get to work and a road is blocked. Or a plane can’t take off because someone taped himself to it. You can ask yourself if it’s useful, because that plane will take off eventually and you’ll just burn more gas taking a detour.
However, as the latest IPCC report shows, again, the window to prevent catastrophe is closing fast. Despite al the COPS and promises by politicians, we’re acting too slowly.
So what do we do? We need to stop waiting for politicians and start making change from the bottom up. We need to wake each other up to the challenges we’re facing and keep reminding ourselves that the time to act is now. Most of us know this, but it’s so easy to fall back into routines of our lives: work, vacations… until someone stops us in ways we can’t ignore.
That is why I endorse Extinction Rebellion and I would like to invite you to have a look at what they do, see if there’s a chapter where you live or even, maybe start one!
Oh hey, look what I just found.
I did make a cartoon that sums it all up for me!
Happy National Siblings Day! You can find more siblings cartoons from me and other artists here in this article on Huffington Post.
With love,
Love your cartoons about the kids when they were small. Very recognisable. Also especially love your Extinction Rebellion metaphor/analogy (?) that collectively We Should Be The Change as it’s clear that governments/big corporations (in bed with each other?) are only focused on resisting change as it’ll affect their profits/popularity. And change as a community becomes about connecting with people. The revolution starts in the kitchen! xx annet
