I’ve always been conscious about the environment.
Any time news about climate change freaked me out, I changed something about my behavior. Whenever I adopted a new habit, I felt a bit better, for a short while.
Until eventually, quite recently, I started to see the extent of our problems…
… and went into full on panic mode.
Katharine Hayhoe’s book ‘Saving Us’ saved me from my cynicism and convinced me of the importance of conversations. I wasn’t talking about climate change, because I felt I wasn’t doing enough myself.
Hayhoe’s book helped me see that nobody’s perfect, but we all have a part to play. It starts with acknowledging there’s a serious problem and coming together to find solutions.
I’ve joined a local group. Together we will match people who can help each other greenify private yards.
Will this initiative save the planet?
Definitely not. But it might inspire others to do their part, even if…
some things never change.
With love,
Fully agree. And if we don’t do our part to fight climate change now, our kids will suffer later.
I loooove this. I've been trying to think of ways to be more involved in climate activism locally...and this is a great idea. Amazing writing and great illustrations!
