As I mentioned in my last post, my bike brought me…
… a bit of a headache.
Four years ago, we went carless. Now I depend on my bike not only for transporting myself, occasionally I need it to pick up my nine year old son. He’s now too heavy to sit on the back of most regular bikes, so I dived into a rabbit hole of the many options the Dutch market has to offer.
The longtail bike in particular got me excited.
There’s different brands and types and most of them are customisable! You can add kids seats or a crate - you could probably start a vegetable garden on its back if you wanted to. My imagination ran wild. I felt like I deserved a 5000 euro bike, because it’s still way cheaper than a car.
However. I really just needed a way to transport my son.
I ended up buying a second hand bike that’s sturdy enough to solve my problem. My plan was to bring the bike home by train, but the weather was nice, so I rode the 18 kilometers on my new (old) iron steed. Sweating like a pig, I spotted two does!
And…
What more could one wish for?
With love,
Love this story! What a deal!
